First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion or First Eucharist is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation.  It is the Body and Blood of Jesus Himself and food for our journey of faith.

At Sacred Heart, children receive two years of sacramental preparation before receiving the Eucharist regardless of what age or grade level students enter into the program.  Typically children receive first Eucharist in the 2nd grade however, we do have special classes designed for children who enter the program after 2nd grade. Students must be enrolled in our Religious Education program in order to participate.   Click here for more information (class information, calendars, etc.) on the Sacred Heart Religious Education Program or contact:

Director of Religious Education: Christy Murcia-Chavez

Adults participate in our RCIA program to prepare to receive their first communion. Click here for RCIA information.

The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. (CCC 1324)
