Emergency Sick Call

Last Rites - Sacrament of the sick for the dying

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the priests of Sacred Heart will be limiting sick calls to those who are actively dying (sometimes referred to as “last rites”). We are able to make visits to the critically ill at home, but regret that we are unable to visit hospitals or nursing homes due to current health restrictions.

Please call the Parish Office at (626) 332-3570 to speak with a receptionist 9am-5pm Mon-Sat or, if calling outside those hours, stay on the line and listen to the message for information on reaching a priest directly anytime 24/7. We will arrange with you a convenient time to visit the critically ill person in their home.

Please note that if the dying person is in a hospital or nursing home, we are available by phone to pray with family members and, when possible, with the dying person themselves.

Anointing of the sick is a sacrament that is offered to those undergoing serious illness or people who have grown weak under the burden of years. Best of all, the Anointing of the Sick takes away all sin, which is especially helpful for those who are too ill to confess their sins.
